Today I read a few interesting facts. At the weekend Man United will play their 4000th consecutive game with a home-grown talent in their match day squad, a record dating back to 1937. A Conservative MP will represent Leigh (in Greater Manchester) for the first time since the constituency was formed in 1887.

I was at Sandbach School for 37 years and have worked with a lot of staff, some of whom had worked at the school for many years before I came. Some went to the school as pupils. They have pointed out bits of the school’s history to me over the years which I would have otherwise missed.

Now into her 12th year in the role, she’s been explaining that despite preparing students for modern-day education, the school has retained the long-standing values upheld by pupils and staff alike for decades.

Our third visit to the RAF club promises to be our best yet. This wonderful opportunity to meet old friends and share memories of our common heritage. As well as Head Teacher Sarah Burns and members of her leadership team, we will this year have a special guest speaker.

Opening of the Museum Cabinet

Former pupils of Sandbach School, belonging to the Old Sandbachians’ Association recently held their AGM and Annual Dinner at the school. The opportunity was taken to formally open the bespoke extension to the museum cabinet in which a vast array of memorabilia from the past is displayed

Obituary: Karol Gajewski

Passed away on 29th July, 2019, aged 67. Formerly of Sandbach and a much respected history teacher at Sandbach School for 30 years. He was the husband of Marion, father of Andrew and Catherine, father-in-law to Jack and grandfather to Eloise and Susanna. He was a keen photographer, violinist and active member of St Joseph’s RC Church, Accrington.
