Since our last news letter, so much has happened, both globally and locally. One such event was the sad passing of former president Robin Astles, which we reported. During his presidency the current mission statement was created
Following the sad news of the death of long-serving former teacher, Andrew (A.J.) Wood, former pupil Nick Booth (1975-1982) has kindly provided us with these thoughts.
The OSA was saddened to hear the news of the death of Andrew Wood who taught at the school for many years in the 1970s through to the 1990s.
The Old Sandbachians’ Association is delighted to once again be joining our friends at Sandbach RUFC for lunch on a matchday.
As previously announced, for 2023, myself, OSA President Mark Bowland, and Secretary Jeff Lewis joined the annual Remembrance Sunday parade through the town, and jointly laid a wreath at the town’s War Memorial.
For the first time the OSA will be joining the Sandbach Remembrance Parade this year, and new President Mark Bowland will lay a wreath on behalf of the Old Sandbachians’ Association.
It was with deep sadness and heavy hearts that we received the news that Robin Astles passed away this afternoon (Wed 23rd August 2023)
Pupils and teachers past and present turned out in their numbers for the latest instalment of the Old Sandbachians’ Annual Lunch and AGM on Saturday.
The Old Sandbachians’ Award is an annual award given to an outgoing member of the Head Boy/Girl team in recognition of his/her service to the school in their year of office. He/she receives an engraved tankard which is his/hers to keep.
