Notice of Annual General Meeting to be held at The Chapel, Sandbach School, Crew Road, Sandbach, on Saturday 15th July 2023.
Last Saturday, Steve, Mark and I had the pleasure of meeting the daughter and grand-daughter of the late John Roberts (JDR) at the School.
In this letter we want to give you an update on the summer AGM & Lunch, which takes place on July 15th at the school, the membership progress and plans for the autumn and winter.
In my Leeds attic is a black metal trunk, full of old letters from the 1980s. Between 1981 and 1984, I was in regular correspondence with John Bowles (1921–2003), who had then just retired as Headmaster of Sandbach School.
Saturday July 15th is the date. The focal point of the lunch will be to acknowledge and thank the many staff who have served and taught at the school for long parts of their careers.
The Old Sandbachians’ Association were deeply saddened to hear of the death in 2022 of legendary teacher John Roberts (JDR).
We are honoured to present this full obituary, written by John’s granddaughter, Tess Moseley-Roberts.
Former Sandbach School pupil, Roy Wilde, enjoyed a military career spanning 37 years followed by running a City of London Livery Company.
Now retired, he pursues archaeology, local history and watercolour & oil painting.
