We heard over the weekend from Colin Brown (former Head Teacher) the sad news that his wife Christine passed away on January 24th. Our deepest sympathies go out to Colin . The funeral will be on 14 February at Vale Royal Crematorium 2.00pm.
It is with much sadness that we learnt recently of the death of Nigel Johnson, former Head of English. Nigel taught at the school from 1973 – 1983. He inspired many boys through his love of literature and genuine interest in helping individuals achieve their potential.
Steve Hodgkinson (OSA Treasurer) and Jeff Lewis (OSA Secretary) were able to say thank you and goodbye to Yvonne Nichols at Sandbach School recently. As Sarah’s PA she has been an incredible friend, help and supporter of the OSA for many years.
I trust this email finds you well. I am honoured to be asked to be the President again and look forward to the year ahead. The Old Sandbachians, like so many organisations, had to put events on hold for almost 2 years. Thankfully, as restrictions have lifted, we have started to resume normal service.
It is with the deepest sadness that we are letting you know of the death of James Steele aged 91 in late September.
Like so many of his contemporaries, Jim was an Old Sandbachian through and through, being proud of all that the school stood for and very grateful for the education it gave him.
On Saturday 27th November 2021, for the first time in more than two years due to Covid restrictions, the Old Sandbachians’ Association were finally back where we belong – at Sandbach School.
On Sunday 14th November 2021, as has been tradition for many years, Sandbach hosted a Remembrance parade consisting of veterans, cadets and many other groups, ahead of a wreath-laying ceremony at the war memorial in the Cobbled Square.
I was sorting through some Old Sandbachian papers and a I came across the President’s report for the 2017 AGM. In the same plastic folder, I found a written record of a conversation between Geoff Piggott and Richard Bass.
