We have had many enquiries about the arrangements for Geoff’s funeral, which is a reflection of the huge respect and affection that so many Old Sandbachians had for him.
His family have decided on a private funeral service. However, in recognition of the importance that Sandbach School played in Geoff’s life, the hearse will drive through the grounds of the School, giving those who are able to be there the opportunity to pay their respects outside School House.
The funeral is early on Friday 29th October, which means that we need to be at the school, fittingly, by 8:45 AM at the very latest. Cars can park in front of the school or in the car park if necessary. A wreath will be given on behalf of both the Old Sandbachians’ Association and the School, represented by current and former colleagues including Richard Ayres and Kevin Sykes.
We know there are many people who may not be able to make Friday but would have liked to pay their last respects and so we will be organising a thanksgiving service at the school in late November – probably Saturday 27th, but we will confirm this in due course.
The family also asked that any gifts and donations would be given to the School. These will be split between the CCF and the Headteacher’s discretionary fund (which is used to financially support students in multiple ways.) Payments can be made by cheque or by bank transfer to Old Sandbachians and we will send the money on to the school. Bank Details are SC: 16-31-13, A/C: 11630976
