Hi and welcome to the Christmas Newsletter
It is almost mandatory to reflect on the past year as one approaches Christmas, so indulge us for a few minutes to do the same.
Firstly we want to thank every former pupil and former and current staff members who have supported the OSA through membership and / or attending events this year. We had two Matchday Lunches at Sandbach Rugby Club. Sandwiched between these, a Beer Tasting Evening at Beartown Brewery in Congleton, an amazing Annual Reception & Lunch in the summer, and the brilliant Former Cadets Dining In Night in November. At least 120 former boys, girls, staff and guests attended these. You can read about all these events on our website at https://www.oldsandbachians.co.uk
We joined the school in celebrating the Senior School Awards where we were honoured to present the Old Sandbachians’ Special Award, attended the incredible Anything Goes Musical, attended the annual Commemoration Day, and for the first time were present at the Sixth Form Leavers’ Barbeque. Also we were privileged to be invited to the CCF’s Dining in Night.
We began 2024 with a wave of new members and we are delighted that this proved not to be a spike but a trend. We now have over 150 members and our revenue from membership this year will be close to £1800.
So as we end the first term of our 125th year, we think it’s fair to say the OSA has not been this strong in many, many years!
So, what of 2025?
The big date for the diary is July 5th 2025 which will be our 100th Annual Reception & Lunch in our 125th year. We are planning something special, which will include a guided tour of the old classrooms and the rather newer Reg Dunning Centre, and maybe a peek into a modern lesson! We are also working with the school to combine an old tradition of a post-AGM / Dinner concert with one of the school’s modern musical success stories. Details will follow in January, but please book the date now and watch out for details on our social media outlets!
Multi-year Memberships
From 2025 we have introduced some incredible membership offers. With overseas members in mind especially, we decided to accept Five Year Memberships. This applies to new members and existing members. Both offers are “buy 4 get 1 free”, so you pay only for the first 4 years, and at the current rates in the rules.
Existing Members pay £75 from 1 Jan 2025 to 31 Dec 2029
New Members pay £85 for the same period.
If you want to take up this offer just follow the link on the membership page on the website. If you select this option the renewal date will be shown on your members page.
Of course you can still pay annually as before, if you prefer, that doesn’t change.

Carol Concert
There is still one more event for 2024….
You are most welcome to join the OSA and the school at the annual Carol Concert at St Mary’s Church on Wednesday December 18th at 6:30pm and then pop across to the Old Hall for a drink afterwards.
And Finally…..
All that is left is for us to thank you for your support and to wish you and your loved ones a Happy Christmas and a prosperous New Year
