The Old Sandbachians’ Association were deeply saddened to hear of the death in 2022 of legendary teacher John Roberts (JDR).
We are honoured to present this full obituary, written by John’s granddaughter, Tess Moseley-Roberts.
It is with much regret that the Old Sandbachians’ Association has learned, via Richard Ayres, that Old Sandbachian Owain Rogers has died at the age of 37.
The Old Sandbachians’ Association is deeply saddened to learn of the death of Mr Stuart Hirst, a former physics teacher at the school.
Stuart Hirst taught at Sandbach school for two years in the early 1980’s.
It is with much sadness that we learnt recently of the death of Nigel Johnson, former Head of English. Nigel taught at the school from 1973 – 1983. He inspired many boys through his love of literature and genuine interest in helping individuals achieve their potential.
It is with the deepest sadness that we are letting you know of the death of James Steele aged 91 in late September.
Like so many of his contemporaries, Jim was an Old Sandbachian through and through, being proud of all that the school stood for and very grateful for the education it gave him.
Peter Manning, who attended Sandbach School between 1940 and 1947, died peacefully earlier this year at the age of 91. He relished his time at Sandbach, representing the football, cricket and rugby teams.
The Old Sandbachians’ Association is deeply saddened to announce Sean Worth died on 22nd October 2021, quite suddenly.
Sean was at the school in the year from 1973 -1980. He was a regular contributor to our Facebook group.
The Old Sandbachians’ Association was deeply saddened to hear of the death on 13th September 2021 of Michael Robinson, an “old boy” of the school, suddenly, at the age of 50.
The Old Sandbachians’ Association was saddened to hear of the death of former headteacher of Sandbach School, Reverend Jon Francis.
Rev. Francis, a music and education graduate who was ordained in his early 20s, had studied music in Birmingham.
