When asked if I would step up to the role of President of the Old Sandbachians this year, I was both greatly honoured and incredibly flattered. The Old Sandbachians, like the school itself, is an organisation rich in history and tradition, and I look forward to continuing to honour and support those traditions, and the aims of the organisation.
Our website has now been operational for several years and has become the go-to place for news about our Old Sandbachians events, the school, old boys and other information we think you may be interested in. We are looking to build on this success by providing interviews with teachers old and present, old boys (and girls) and articles and memories going back as far as we can.
It is also important for us that all Old Sandbachians feel that this is a website that they are part of, and to do that we to need you to contribute to its content. So we invite you to send us any photos, memories, news or interesting stories you may have, from your time at school or since you left.
We also have an active Facebook group, and a Twitter feed – links are on the right.
As much as the OSA needs to be fit for the modern world, I am also looking forward to maintaining and reviving much loved traditions. For example, we are having the Presidents’ Board updated and this will be displayed in the school chapel. We are also looking to bring back something that was once a mainstay of the Old Sandbachians’ events calendar – Cheese and Wine evenings.
My grateful thanks go to Jeff, Steve and the entire committee. Without all of the committee there would be no OSA. There is always lots of work to be done, so if any Old Boys feel they can contribute a little of their time to helping us get the work done, please get in touch.
